Why we are a Montessori school
The Concept

Why we are a Montessori school

Montessori pedagogy is not merely a method — it is a stance. It shapes how we see the child, how we engage with them, how we understand learning, how we design our spaces and how we cultivate relationships. How this stance becomes lived everyday school life, you can discover here.

The child at the centre

At the centre stands a simple thought: every child strives for independence from birth. Deep within, they carry the need and the ability to develop on their own. We create the conditions for this — through a prepared environment in which they can unfold their potential to the fullest, through inspiring introductions, mindful guidance and enough time for every child.

A thoughtfully designed environment

The classrooms are thought through in every detail. They follow a clear order and are designed to support the child in their drive towards independence and self-formation. All materials are openly accessible and precisely arranged. Everything is matched to the child's hand and eye. Here concentration and independence can grow naturally.

Materials as keys to the world

The Montessori materials are a key to the (intellectual) development of the child. Rather than explaining things in the abstract, they help children to grasp mathematical principles, linguistic structures or physical laws with their own hands. Every element is thought through down to the smallest detail; everything has meaning. Through their beauty and clear structure, they call directly to be picked up and used.

Observe, accompany, step back

Teachers are not just educators; they are knowledge mediators, observers and companions all at once. They observe in order to understand the child and offer new impulses, they inspire with carefully placed introductions, they support when a child needs help, and they step back when the child is at work independently. That restraint is demanding — and it is precisely what makes the difference.

A dynamic concept

We develop Montessori further, integrate new insights from research and practice, and remain self-critical. That is how what Maria Montessori created over a hundred years ago stays relevant — for the world in which your child is growing up today.
